à demeure

Since 2009 À demeure has been involved in the production of works in the context of commissions initiated by public and private actors: associations, local residents, elected officials of small towns, professionals from various fields of activity in rural or urban areas.

The association is approved by the Fondation de France for the New Commissioners action, and is made up of a group of professionals: Valérie Cudel, Chloé Dautrey, Frédéric Oyharçabal, Phoebé Meyer, Nicolas Romarie, Valérie Bussmann.
She works mainly in the regions of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

From 2010 to 2014, it supported the Industrial Landscape programme involving four regional nature parks – Lorraine, Monts d’Ardèche, Pilat and Vercors – which wished to develop a common reflection on their industrial history.

The association is also involved in publishing projects in partnership with Les Presses du réel and Captures éditions, where the book can be one of the mediums proposed by the invited artists (the book is then a work in its own right). Certain publications are also privileged, a necessary break to report on research and debates linked to the production of works and to questions raised by the artists.

The Fondation de France’s New Sponsors initiative enables citizens confronted with social issues to involve contemporary artists in their concerns by commissioning them to create a work. Its originality is based on a new conjunction between three privileged actors: the artist, the commissioning citizen and the cultural mediator approved by the Fondation de France, accompanied by public and private partners gathered around the project.
